In the Mahabharata, Balarama decides not to participate in the Kurukshetra war alongside Duryodhana, the leader of the Kuru clan. Instead, he embarks on a pilgrimage journey to avoid any conflicts with his brother, Lord Krishna, who supports the Pandavas. On the final day (18th day) of the Kurukshetra war, Balarama returns and coincidentally witnesses the fierce duel between Bhima and Duryodhana, both of whom he mentored.
